22/04/10
What a difference a good night’s sleep makes. This morning was spent trying to sort out the problems of the night before. We were fortunate that the Wal-Mart that we stopped at last night had a FedEx office store next door, which did internet access, printing and scanning. I made calls to our car hire company and filled out the forms that they sent me and hopefully that is all that is needed to get the insurance sorted.
Now we are heading south towards Miami. After all of the recent happenings I recon a trip to the beach would do us good.

We headed towards the coast on our way down so that we could find a beach. We happened to drive through Palm Springs, which was a bit ridiculous. Really nice, your standard things like an Aston Martin garage and amazing houses by the beach front, palm trees, the lot. We went a little further south before we stopped. We happened upon Delray Beach, it had a car park, toilets, a shower and another great stretch of beach. The water was so blue, the sky was cloudless and there was a nice breeze to keep it cool enough. The water was apparently 70 degrees Fahrenheit, I don't know what that is in real money, but it was really nice and warm. On the concrete flats around the car park were loads of little lizards, and a snake even crossed my path when walking to the beach.

After the beach we headed on towards Miami where we would spend the night. We had dinner at KFC (see the Double Down review) and tried to find some interwebs. Normally you  can throw a rock and hit a McDonalds or Starbucks, but not here. We trawled around for quite awhile before we found a McDonalds and then found that their wifi was not working :(

We stayed at another Wal-Mart, but this one was a bit crazy. We rolled up at about 11pm and the place was heaving. Even at 12 the place was still busy. Furthermore everyone was speaking Spanish, I had heard that Miami was fairly diverse and full of Spanish speakers, but I felt like the odd one out for speaking English. Very odd.

Cube out.
