21/04/10

No trip to Florida is complete without going to Disney World, is what I heard someone say at one point. It is the archetypal theme park, the one that started it all off. Bloody expensive to get in and fairly childish, but a real American experience. There is so much song and dance! Even to open the park for the day they have a song and a steam train and Mickey...  Over the day we hit pretty much every attraction. Most of them are really well done and quite good fun, but it isn’t really a place to go for adrenaline filled rides. Bizarrely enough I think my favourite attraction was the Hall of Presidents. The animatronics are amazing and it was nice to get a bit of American history as we don’t get taught much of that at school.

I couldn’t quite believe how much Disney World has influenced modern culture. It is almost the Citizen Kane of places to go. The Duff Beer Gardens in the Simpsons is a complete copy, of Disney World for example.
The day was pretty good fun, we stayed until about 10pm ish to see the fireworks before trying to head off.

Then the problems started. I don’t want to work people, but we had a car accident in the car park trying to get out. No-one was hurt, our car only has a little dent, but the other car was pretty badly smashed. I have never been more worried and stressed. Fortunately we got some of the park officials over and they were really nice helped us out with forms etc. The lady who owned the other car was surprisingly calm about it all, and was just glad that we had insurance and didn’t drive off.

After all of that I was in a bit of a state so we headed somewhere to sleep it all off.
Cube out.
