Lots more sight seeing and lots more walking done this afternoon/evening. Andy found out about a free ferry which takes us past the Statue of Liberty:
Some great views as we stood on the front deck in the sun both on the way and the way back:
We then took a walk from downtown through China Town and Little Italy up to mid town in the New York sun. I stopped at a hot dog van on the way for a pretzel. The bread itself was very nice but they put an absolute ton of salt on it, and it wasn't like your regular salt it was more like dishwasher salt. I ate half and brushed the rest of the salt off before finishing it. The 500ml of water I had wasn't enough to get rid of my thirst or the taste of salt in my mouth.
*Cube* G0N avec pretzel:
In mid town we found a deli for our first genuine New Yawk Bagel experience, I went for a cheese and ham poppy seed one. They had a choice of cheese but I went for cheddar. I don't think they really understand cheese over here as it tasted nothing like real cheddar. Anyway, the bread was toasted on a griddle and they filled it with what must have been a whole pack of ham all for $3.76 which at today's rate is £2.43.
I only ate half and have just eaten the rest back at the hostel. I forgot to mention that whilst at the diner this morning they were playing Westlife and when we were in A T & T they had Blur on. I thought it was the English that copied the American culture.
I've just had a shower at the hostel. Not too bad, nice and refreshing after a day on our feet. I'm off to bed now to catch up with Miley and get some shut eye.
