14:40

After another pleasant night we went into the Wal-Mart for supplies. This one was a superstore, so it had fresh fruit and veg! Egad I have never been so glad to see some apples.

After breakfast we hit the road again for our first full driving day. We started going south towards the coast so we can take route 17 down to wards Florida. After a few hours we hit South Carolina and Myrtle Beach. My word! The strip was unbelievable, in a bad way. It was about 25 miles of huge American Touristy things. Planet Hollywood, Rock n Roll Cafe etc with loads of fast food. Pretty hideous.

We have just been through Georgetown, which is apparently the oldest colonial settlement on the East coast. Not sure if that's true or not. Anywho, we are now in the “deep south” and still trucking. Hopefully we will get to Savannah today.

Yup we made it to Savannah, Georgia. A nice place it is too. The town has loads of history, which is a nice change from some of the places that we have been passing. There are cute old building on cobbled roads and nice parks...

We also had a helicopter do a flyby for us. Was pretty cool. Havn't a clue what it was doing but I like to think that it was in our honour.

The weather was really nice too, really warm but not horribly so. It was about 5:30when we turned up, so the hottest was long gone leaving a lovely evening warm. We wandered around the town for a bit, had some food, failed to get a couple of caches and got on the road again.

We have recently passed into Florida! Doing pretty well so far. At the moment we are heading towards Daytona Beach and hopefully stopping for the night somewhere near there.
