05/06/10

From the anonymous town of north western Maine we headed to Quoddy Head, just south of the town of Lubec ME, the most easterly point of the US mainland. This completes the square, we have hit the most southerly point on the east coast, most southerly point on the west coast, most northerly point on the west coast and now the most northerly point on the east coast. Quoddy Head is essentially a headland that sticks out into the Atlantic, covered by forest and home to a nice lighthouse and a geocache. Unfortunately it was raining all morning, so we jumped out of the car to grab the cache and take a few photos, but didn't hang around to get wet.

We are now driving down through Maine towards Boston, with a bit of luck we should be there this evening.

  1. No visit to Crabapple Cove, Maine - birthplace of the famous Captain Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce then ?

  2. He's fictional, he doesn't even have a real birthplace.

  3. What ?

Don't tell me that Trapper John is fictional too ?

And can't a fictional person have had a birthplace which is real ?

  4. Please spend the day in Boston and do the guided tour, It really was worth it - and as you have a week or so to get to NY you could do martha's vineyard and cape cod. It was really amazing.
